Due to the retirement of the current postholder an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Specialist Occupational Health Practitioner to join the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Service at Harrogate & District Foundation Trust.

The Trust provides services to all staff based on the Harrogate hospital site, as well as to a wide range of community services across an expanding Trust footprint.

We are looking for an experienced Specialist Practitioner in Occupational Health; with excellent communication, leadership and clinical decision-making skills, who is flexible and can work 4 days a week, both on site, and remotely as service need requires.

Main duties of the job

You will be able to deliver evidence-based occupational health services to all Trust employees and contracted services, whilst providing clinical leadership, professional support and education across the Occupational Health Service, whilst ensuring compliance with responsibilities associated with Health & Safety legislation and maximising and promoting the health of all employees. The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and build effective working relationships, whilst demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and high standards of care is essential.

Working autonomously within your scope of professional practice, as a senior nurse within the team you will manage a varied and complex clinical caseload, providing specialist occupational health assessments, management referral consultations, health surveillance, immunisation programmes; which meet the vaccination and immunisation framework and fitness for work advice, whilst supporting staff health, safety & wellbeing. Ultimately, contributing to the development of high-quality, safe and effective services that supports clinical governance, workforce development and quality improvement.

Qualifications Essential

Registered General Nurse OHN degree (SCPOHN)

Desirable

Masters level qualification

Experience Essential

3-5 years' experience in occupational health nursing Experience of handling complex relationships

Desirable

NHS Experience of occupational health Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams Experience of undertaking clinical audit or nursing research

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Managerial and leadership skills venepuncture, spirometry and audiometry Knowledge of recent NHS/DoH/HSE legislation & recommendations Experience of the SEQOHS accreditation process

Desirable

A sound understanding of the NHS and its culture Awareness of changing needs within Occupational Health & Wellbeing
