Job SummaryThe Program Support Assistant performs a variety of administrative, analytical, technical, and clerical duties in support of Nursing Service leadership with the intent of accomplishing the administrative requirements and operational goals of the service.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience maintaining recurring and non-recurring reports, spreadsheets, and tracking systems using Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) Experience maintaining timekeeping records and/or processing time and attendance transactions (e.g., leave, premium pay, overtime) using an automated timekeeping system Experience maintaining equipment inventory or non-expendable property accountability records Experience maintaining a repository of policies, procedures, or standard operating documents, including tracking review/revision cycles and version control Experience coordinating administrative activities across multiple offices or departments to support project or program completion For more information on these qualification standards, please visit the United States Office of Personnel Management's website at https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/.

Major DutiesMajor duties of this position include but are not limited to: Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of administrative processes by researching regulations, policies, directives, memoranda, handbooks, and standard operating procedures to determine their impact on Nursing Services operations. Prepares recurring and non-recurring correspondence, reports, memoranda, statistical summaries, management briefings, spreadsheets, presentations, charts, and graphs utilizing Microsoft Office applications and other VA information systems. Maintains a centralized repository of Nursing Service policies, memoranda, directives, and Standard Operating Procedures. Serves as the Nursing Service liaison for equipment accountability and inventory management. Coordinates meetings, prepares agendas, records meeting minutes, monitors action items, and follows up on assignments to ensure timely completion. Serves as the Timekeeper and/or alternate Timekeeper for Nursing Service Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-4:00 pm (Subject to change based on the needs of the Agency) Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
