QualificationsBasic Requirements: Qualified applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-13) in the Federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as: experience serving as a principal writer-editor and editorial authority for senior executive leadership to include conducting editorial reviews of highly sensitive materials ensuring compliance with established government styles, format and content standards; and developing and refining high-stake communications for top-tier audiences which may include the Secretary of Defense, Members of Congress, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major DutiesServes as a Writer-Editor for the Director, Deputy Director, and other principals. Interacts and consults both verbally and in writing with senior military, civilian and industry partners throughout the duration.Researches, writes, and edits a variety of materials, including SITREPs, talking points, victory reports, and training materials, and other products on the organization, mission, operations, history, objectives, interests, and viewpoints.Edits and writes other material including congressional testimony on the agency position on matters before Congress and correspondence Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Service Chiefs, and members of Congress.Responsible for the preparation and selection of material for posting to that area of the Director’s Group Workspace.Provides significant advice and counsel to civilian public and private sector leadership and senior joint service leaders on the Director’s needs and intent.
