QualificationsGS-06: To qualify for the GS-06 grade level, your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent in complexity and difficulty to at least the GS-05 grade level in Federal service. Specialized Experience for the GS-06: Experience such as, preparing and finalizing correspondence in addition to at least two of the following areas 1) Providing a wide range of administrative support services to enable efficient operation of a business of program office; 2) using computerized personnel systems for presentations, making travel arrangements, and records management; 3) preparing forms and other administrative paperwork; 4) performing appointment scheduling and updating calendars for senior management; 5) performing research for senior management. GS-07: To qualify for the GS-07 grade level, your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent in complexity and difficulty to at least the GS-06 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience for GS-07: Specialized experience is defined as, preparing and finalizing correspondence in addition to at least four of the following areas 1) Providing a wide range of administrative support services to enable efficient operation of a business of program office; 2) using computerized personnel systems for presentations, making travel arrangements, and records management; 3) preparing forms and other administrative paperwork; 4) performing appointment scheduling and updating calendars for senior management; 5) performing research for senior management. The superior academic achievement provision is to be used to determine eligibility for applicable GS-07 level positions of persons who have completed (or expect to complete within 9 months) all the requirements for bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a qualifying grade point average (GPA), class standing, or honors society. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 08/26/2026.

Major DutiesThe primary duties of the Management and Program Assistant at the GS-07 full performance level include but are not limited to the following: Responds to various inquiries, requests, and administrative problems and determines appropriate action, by arranging meetings and/or preparing responses, or by assigning such matters to other qualified staff members for response. Managing the Office budget and makes service/supply purchases as necessary. Responsible for managing all administrative operations for the Area Manager, including coordinating complex calendar commitments, organizing travel, and prioritizing high-level contacts. Ensures efficient scheduling of activities and events to support the Area Manager's engagement, guaranteeing appropriate representation to staff and Federal, State, and public officials. Providing guidance, advice, and training to subordinate employees regarding office policies and correspondence practices. Utilizing personal knowledge of the Office's programs, policies, and plans to prepare drafts or documents.
