QualificationsPHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (ACCELERATED HIRE), GS-0603-12: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Using professional knowledge of and skill in applying a wide range of Aerospace, Occupational and Preventative Medicine practices, principles and theories; Providing consultation, teaching, and coordination with patients and their family members of treatment and medical care; Providing analytical, evaluation, monitoring and reporting support on Individual Medical Readiness for ANG Wing, tenants, and geographically separated unit personnel. Major DutiesTHIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (ACCELERATED HIRE), GS-0603-12, is to provide a professional Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to plan, schedule, execute, manage, and administer installation-wide Medical management. Requests consultations to assist on interpretation of abnormal studies and discusses the interpretation of abnormal studies with the member's treating provider. Reviews civilian and military medical provider documentation and/or referrals to determine appropriate medical management of ANG members and required referrals including, but not limited to, aeromedical and operational dispositions. Ensures referrals include the appropriate level of severity/urgency of the care needed. Evaluates adherence to medical care plan to include scheduled medical, physical therapy, and mental health appointments. Administer comprehensive medical assessments, physical assessments, and preventative medical service to Air National Guard ANG members at an ANG Wing. Performs comprehensive physical assessments of ANG members to include full physical assessments, significant past medical and surgical history, family history, social history, recording/reviewing current medications, and immunization history. Requests, orders, and interprets laboratory tests related to Individual Medical Readiness (IMR), mobility and retention standards, and flying standards. Requests, evaluates, and applies the findings of radiological studies. Performs person to person provider contact in mental health assessments. Analyzes data across all medical programs and reports medical trends. Oversight of compliance and execution of deployment health assessments and other deployment related services, such as IMR, Immunizations, Separation History and Physical Examinations (SHPE), Pre and Post Deployment Health Assessment Program (DRHA, Automated Neuropsychological Assessments (ANAM). Ensures compliance with and preparation for readiness of unit compliance inspections, evaluations, audits, and staff assistance visits including Unit Effectiveness Inspection (UEI). Monitors preflight crew briefings, crew resource management (CRM) from show time to release. Monitors crew for potential health and safety concerns/hazards. Provides operational safety and mishap prevention briefings. Provides grounding management by reviewing medical documentation, performing necessary physical assessments, preparing the DD Form 2992, and ensuring review/signature by the Flight Surgeon. Required to regularly observe and advise on aeromedical problems. The position resides within the infrastructure and support functions of the state National Guard; the incumbent is not subject to mobilization, nor is the work described part of the military mission; and the incumbent does not perform a key advisory or essential administrative role that is inherently military. In addition, the position must meet one of the following: It does not have a comparable military function; the position is required in full-time (civilian) role when the organization, or similar military position, is mobilized to perform continuing post-mobilization functions; or the position requires a skill or competency that necessitates technical expertise or professional qualifications that cannot be readily found in the military structure of the state military force. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.RequirementsRecruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, subject to funding and approval. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period. U.S. citizenship is required. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Must maintain proper security clearance. This position requires current, unrestricted Active Reserve Component (ARC)/Unit Training Assembly (UTA) privileges through Centralized Credentials & Quality Assurance System (CCQAS). This position is restricted to those medical privileges granted by the ARC/UTA privilege list, which does not include any form of medical treatment. Must maintain the credentials and Readiness Skills Verifications (RSVs) required by AFSC. Will coordinate with NGB/SG and Medical Group leadership to maintain clinical practice skills requirements. Must attend applicable aerospace courses as required by NGB/SG. May be required to wear special protective clothing such as coats, boots, vests, respirator masks, and/or helmets. Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate Member may be exposed to occupational hazards in the normal course of duties (i.e., aviation environment, inspecting shops with occupational hazards, etc.). This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Must be able to obtain and maintain privileging for the DOD/AFMS/ANGMS IAW DHA PM 6025-13 Vol 4 and DAFMAN 44-119. Must maintain credentials requirements at all times (i.e. current and unrestricted state license, BLS, clinical competencies, etc.) IAW DHA PM 6025-13 Vol 4 and DAFMAN 44-119. 6/14/2022 TCPC Cramner.
