Unilabs is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Global Head Health & Safety to strengthen and elevate our global safety framework.
In this role, you will not only ensure compliance with health and safety legislation but also drive a proactive, forward-looking culture of safety across our international operations. You will lead the review and enhancement of processes, develop group-level policies, and oversee training, reporting, and monitoring tools that will shape Unilabs’ global safety standards.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Development: Review, develop, and implement group-wide health and safety policies, plans, and programs aligned with Unilabs’ global operations. SOPs & Processes: Lead the review and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance across all sites. Training & Awareness: Design, deliver, and oversee global training programs to embed a strong safety culture at all levels. Risk Assessment & Audits: Conduct inspections, assessments, and audits, identifying risks and implementing corrective and preventive measures. Monitoring & Reporting: Establish and manage tracking tools, KPIs, and dashboards to monitor performance and ensure transparency. Incident & Accident Management: Oversee robust incident and accident reporting processes, investigate root causes, and recommend sustainable preventive actions. Resource Optimization: Review and align resources to strengthen health and safety delivery across the organization. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to international and local regulations, keeping the organization aligned with evolving safety standards.Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive experience in health and safety, with significant leadership responsibility at a senior or global level. Strong track record of building or transforming health and safety frameworks in complex, multi-country organizations (healthcare or laboratory sector experience preferred). In-depth knowledge of international health and safety legislation, standards, and best practices. Proven experience leading global training initiatives, SOP development, and safety culture transformation. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to influence at senior leadership level. Recognized professional certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH Chartered Member, or equivalent). Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are an advantage. Based in Porto, Portugal, or Barcelona, Spain.
