Job SummaryThe Veterans Affairs (VA) Maryland Health Care System is a dynamic and progressive health care organization that provides safe, quality, and compassionate care and service to Maryland's Veterans. The incumbent is responsible for program support to Home and Community Based Services, as part of the Geriatrics & Extended Care Clinical Center located at the Perry Point VA Medical Center.

QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/21/2026. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Responsible for gathering and analyzing program data, organization, scheduling and coordinating administrative program activities. monitoring of average daily patient census, providing Q&A over the updating of waitlist, providing Q&A over the generating of authorizations, and sending to community partners to initiate care, certifying and processing invoices for the programs. Have knowledge and utilize automated software and its applications in managing all the programs. Responsible to track new vendors, monthly, quarterly data or info needed for program management. Gathers vital and pertinent information from Veterans and community partners to ascertain the level of emergency related to inquiries. Demonstrates the ability to communicate and interact professionally with staff on all levels, community partners, VAMHCS and VISN leadership. Major DutiesMajor Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible to support the functions of community contract programs by assisting in inquiries and relating information to appropriate community partners, staff, either within GEC or other clinical centers/services. Assists as needed the needs of Veterans and community partners while supporting the medical center and GECCC administrative support service missions. Provides Veterans and community partners with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Serves as the primary contact for community partners, VA staff and regulatory agencies. Addresses conflict and difficulty with Veterans, community partners and VA staff constructively and appropriately. Have general knowledge of accounting concepts and auditing procedures to ensure proper charges for the services provided by the programs. Performs a variety of specialized clerical duties within Home and Community Based Service programs within GEC service. Knowledge of English grammar and usage, spelling, punctuation, abbreviations, and correspondence formats outlined by the VAMHCS, VISN and community partners. Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriately and continuously relate to internal and external customers.
