The Opportunity

The VDC Manager II manages the VDC process across multiple concurrent projects of increasing complexity, providing leadership and coordination for VDC staff and serving as a liaison between departments, clients, and architects.

Scope: lead 2+ projects at a time.

What You'll Do

VDC Process & Standards

• Lead VDC/BIM Implementation Plan meetings and establish project-specific VDC guidelines prior to bid or preconstruction services.

• Establish and implement VDC procedures and techniques to ensure timely modeling and shop-drawing approval.

• Lead the adoption of VDC tools and processes and develop training material and conduct VDC software and procedure training.

• Scope: lead the VDC process on 2+ concurrent projects, coordinating VDC Coordinators and staff.

Project Modeling & Coordination

• Serve as Model Administrator for assigned projects and assist project teams with preconstruction services.

• Collect, track, and report all clash detection and RFI resolution with project teams during preconstruction.

• Implement VDC technologies on large-scale projects, including 4D scheduling.

• Monitor and manage the modeling process to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Subcontractor & Vendor Management

• Determine required subcontractor participation and review/approve subcontractor adherence to VDC guidelines, including model submittal schedules and as-built updates for record set / project close-out.

• Ensure a successful project-team experience with all approved third-party VDC vendors.

Team & Field Support

• Advise and assist the field with process and methods as defined by company standards.

• Manage and resolve disputes, performance deficiencies, and matters requiring disciplinary action.

• Proactively develop and maintain relationships with new and existing project team members.

What You Bring to the Role

Experience & Education

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture, or equivalent completion of a Construction Management Certificate Program required.

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience required.

Certifications & Licenses

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, written and verbal.

Skills & Attributes

• Proficient with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, Archicad, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, and Procore.

• Thorough understanding of project management control systems (scheduling, cost control, procurement, estimating) preferred.

• Occasionally bends, stoops, or stands on a stool to access files and materials.

• Requires close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Requires the ability to communicate clearly and hear conversations in person and by phone.
