Job Summary/Objective:
The Clinical and Non-Clinical Educator plans, develops, coordinates, and conducts educational programs to support the professional development and competency of staff. This position conducts in-service education programs, assists in planning and preparing curriculum content and teaching schedules, and serves as a resource for staff regarding best practices, regulatory requirements, and quality patient care. The Educator may supervise staff participating in orientation, residency, or preceptor programs and promote evidence-based practice throughout the organization.
Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:
• Conduct in-service education and training programs for staff and other clinical personnel.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs, learning materials, and competency-based training.
• Assist in planning and preparing curriculum content, educational schedules, and instructional resources.
• Coordinate orientation and onboarding programs for newly hired nursing personnel.
• Assess staff learning needs and recommend educational opportunities to enhance clinical competence.
• Facilitate classroom instruction, hands-on training, skills validation, and continuing education activities.
• Monitor and evaluate employee competencies and maintain related documentation.
• Support compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational education requirements.
• Collaborate with department leaders to identify educational needs and performance improvement opportunities.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff.
• Assist with implementation and education related to new equipment, policies, procedures, and clinical initiatives.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and organizational development activities.
• May supervise, mentor, and coordinate staff participating in preceptor, residency, or professional development programs.
• Remain current on nursing practice standards, evidence-based care, and educational methodologies.
• Other duties as assigned.
Skills / Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of nursing principles, standards of care, and clinical practices.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles and educational program development.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and teaching skills.
• Ability to assess educational needs and develop effective training programs.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and project-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, electronic health records, and learning management systems.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Education, Certificates, and License:
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Master's Degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, or related healthcare field preferred.
Certificates / License:
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Missouri required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Experience:
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required.
• Previous experience in staff education, employee training, preceptor programs, or clinical instruction preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Lifting: Ability to occasionally lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Mobility: Frequent standing, walking, and movement between departments and training locations.
• Posture: Ability to bend, reach, and demonstrate clinical procedures as needed.
• Dexterity: Fine motor skills necessary to demonstrate clinical techniques and operate educational and medical equipment.
• Communication: Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with staff, patients, and healthcare professionals.
