The Charles Lea Center is seeking a dedicated and motivated Clean Crew Team Leader to provide hands-on supervision, training, and support to team members with disabilities working in our janitorial services program. This role combines leadership, coaching, cleaning services, and community employment support to help individuals achieve their personal, vocational, and financial goals while ensuring exceptional service for our customers.

As a Team Leader, you will work alongside Crew Members, model professional behavior, teach job skills, and help create a supportive environment where individuals can reach their fullest potential.

Position Summary

The Clean Crew Team Leader is responsible for training, supervising, and supporting Crew Members in the completion of janitorial services while ensuring quality outcomes for customers. This position focuses on person-centered vocational development, promoting independence, and maintaining high standards of cleaning, safety, and customer service.

Essential Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Vocational Training

• Provide vocational training, job coaching, and life/work skills development to Crew Members.

• Utilize person-centered practices to support individual growth and skill development.

• Assign daily job duties and monitor work performance.

• Work directly alongside Crew Members to model proper cleaning techniques and workplace expectations.

• Provide constructive feedback, coaching, and encouragement to help team members succeed.

• Support Crew Members in developing independence, accountability, and professional work habits.

Janitorial Services & Quality Assurance

• Perform and supervise commercial cleaning tasks, including:

• Floors and carpets

• Walls and doors

• Countertops and surfaces

• Windows and glass

• Restrooms and fixtures

• Water fountains

• Trash collection and disposal

• Conduct quality inspections of completed work.

• Perform rework or provide additional coaching when cleaning standards are not met.

• Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through consistent quality service.

Support & Supervision of Individuals Served

• Provide appropriate care, supervision, and support to Crew Members while on job sites.

• Become familiar with each individual's goals, support needs, medical concerns, and personal preferences.

• Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment.

• Ensure individuals are treated with dignity and respect at all times.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate records related to:

• Time and attendance

• Accountability verification

• Training objectives and progress

• Program documentation requirements

• Report concerns, incidents, injuries, and safety issues according to agency policies and procedures.

• Protect confidential employee and client information.

Equipment & Supply Management

• Ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition.

• Keep supply storage areas organized, clean, and adequately stocked.

• Submit supply requests with sufficient lead time to avoid shortages.

• Teach Crew Members proper use, care, and accountability of equipment and supplies.

• Ensure all employees have appropriate uniforms, safety gear, and equipment necessary to perform their jobs.

Safety & Risk Management

• Follow and enforce all company safety procedures.

• Train Crew Members in proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

• Promote safe work practices at all times.

• Document and report all incidents, accidents, injuries, and safety concerns.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve operations, training, efficiency, and customer service.

• Share best practices and lessons learned with supervisors and fellow Team Leaders.

• Assist with special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.

Flexibility & Cross-Training

• Participate in cross-training at multiple work sites.

• Be willing to provide coverage at other locations when operational needs require.

• Support continuity of services by assisting with staffing shortages, employee absences, or special assignments.

• Adapt to changing responsibilities and work environments as business needs evolve.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.

• Experience in janitorial services, custodial work, facilities maintenance, or a related field.

• Leadership, coaching, or supervisory experience.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

• Ability to complete required documentation and reports accurately.

Preferred

• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

• Experience providing vocational training or job coaching.

• Knowledge of person-centered practices.

• Commercial cleaning certification or custodial training.

Physical Requirements

This role involves regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting throughout the workday, including lifting and carrying supplies, equipment, or materials weighing up to 50 pounds. The position requires the ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and tools, perform hands-on job duties alongside Crew Members, and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Work Schedule

• Average of 40 hours per week.

• Primarily Monday through Friday.

• Must be flexible to meet operational and staffing needs.

• Occasional schedule adjustments, cross-site coverage, or additional responsibilities may be required.
