Newstead Academy Markham is seeking a passionate and experienced RECE teacher to join our Early Years teaching team.
This is a *teaching-focused position* for an educator who enjoys planning and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children ages 4?6. Our program combines inquiry-based learning, academic readiness, creativity, and hands-on exploration, with a strong focus on early literacy, mathematics, communication, and independent learning skills.
The ideal candidate is a confident classroom teacher who can create meaningful learning experiences, maintain a well-organized classroom, and support each child?s academic, social, emotional, and physical development.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and daily learning experiences aligned with Newstead Academy?s educational philosophy and applicable Ontario requirements. * Provide engaging instruction in early literacy, phonics, writing, mathematics, science, and inquiry-based learning. * Develop lesson plans, learning activities, projects, and classroom materials based on children?s developmental levels and interests. * Create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, independence, critical thinking, creativity, and a love of learning. * Observe and document children?s learning and development and use observations to guide future instruction. * Provide appropriate behaviour guidance and establish clear, positive classroom routines and expectations. * Differentiate learning experiences to support children with different abilities, learning styles, and developmental needs. * Communicate professionally with parents regarding children?s learning, development, classroom activities, and progress. * Collaborate with other teachers and school leadership on curriculum planning, classroom projects, special events, and school-wide initiatives. * Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, transitions, meals, and other daily routines. * Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment. * Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children and comply with Newstead Academy policies and applicable childcare regulations.

Hours of Work: 8:00 am ? 5:00 pm OR 9:00am ? 6:00pm
Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
