Our actions in this regard have a positive impact on our communities and help to improve the everyday lives of New Brunswickers.The employees of the department of EECD develop programs and offer services that support parents and educators and encourage learners from birth to 20 years old, to achieve lasting and transferable learning that will serve them throughout their lives.What you will do:Reporting to the Director of the Autism Learning Partnership/Partenariat d'apprentissage en autisme et Services spécialisés, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the functional abilities of learners in the Francophone education sector in the areas of orientation & mobility and, potentially, in their development and daily living activities.As a rehabilitation professional, they will identify and implement appropriate interventions to support skill development across the different areas of the Extended Core Curriculum, a specialized intervention program for children and students with visual impairments, including:Orientation and mobilitySensory developmentIndependence in daily living activitiesThey will work closely with parents, specialist teachers for children and students with visual impairments, and school staff to ensure a collaborative and individualized approach.Conduct functional assessments to identify children's needs and propose appropriate intervention strategies.Design and implement individualized and group interventions aimed at promoting children's independence and active participation in their environments.Develop interventions to support the acquisition of body, spatial, and environmental concepts.Assess, provide, and teach the use of the white cane, identification cane, or mobility aid cane (if certified as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist).Provide recommendations to improve the visual accessibility of school and community environments to maximize the autonomy and safety of learners with visual impairments.Document interventions and ensure thorough follow-up.Deliver services in various settings (home, early learning centers, school, community).Organize and lead awareness activities for school and community audiences.Stay informed about best practices in visual impairment support. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following: Required Competencies:Hold a master's degree in Visual Impairment Intervention with a specialization in Orientation and Mobility, or a Certificate in Orientation and Mobility issued by a recognized university, or possess training deemed equivalent;Be a member in good standing of the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP), or be eligible for membership;ORHave five (5) years of relevant experience in a related field, such as community pediatric occupational therapy or specialized teaching for individuals with visual impairments; andBe willing to complete specialized training in visual impairment with the go
