What you'll be doing...The Partsperson maintains and controls an inventory of materials for use by BC Transit?s maintenance shops, including issuing stores material to maintenance personnel, ordering stock from suppliers, preparing requests to stock new items and monitoring re-order points, receiving, unloading, verifying and storing stock shipments from suppliers, shipping and receiving items to and from the Municipal Systems, promptly and accurately entering materials transactions to the Vehicle Maintenance System. This person will also perform inventory counts. You will be performing a variety of administrative tasks to help the stockroom function smoothly including maintaining files, preparing forms and requisitions. This position is based out of our Langford Transit Centre (LTC) and Victoria Transit Centre (VTC). The successful candidate will need to have reliable transportation to get to both locations. What you'll bring to the table...We value lifelong learners and have found the following combination of education and experience allows people to be successful in this role: Grade 12 graduation Trade Certificate of Qualification (TQ) ?Parts Person? or equivalent Red Seal Parts Certification Class 5 driver?s license Previous experience in inventory control in a computerized environment. Familiarity with inventory control software, accuracy and attention to detail, the ability to work under time constraints. A strong knowledge of Diesel, CNG, Gasoline and Electric engines as well as knowledge of Air Brake and Suspensions Systems would be considered an assetWhat we'll bring to the table...
