About this role

Job summary

The successful applicant will be expected to provide high quality patient-centred care to patients attending our adult audiology department. The bulk of the work will be adult rehabilitation and supporting ENT clinics. We are in the process of looking to expand our vestibular and tinnitus teams within the department, so additional experience in these areas would be viewed favourably . A short local acclimatisation period will be provided after starting the post.

Main duties of the job

On a day-to-day basis, we aid to provide clinicians a variety of clinics wherever possible. Most days, the successful applicants' duties will be split into a session of adult rehabilitation and a session of ENT support. For those applicants who already have specialist experience in the areas of tinnitus and vestibular diagnosis and rehabilitation, these specialisms can also be incorporated in the applicants scheduling as and when is appropriate.

Job description Job responsibilities

Adult rehabilitation including audiological counselling, hearing aid assessment, fitting, follow-up and repair clinics, supporting ENT clinics and providing further specialist audiological testing as required (i.e. speech testing, speech in noise testing, OAE etc.). As also noted, we are keen for our senior audiologists to engage in some form of specialist training in the areas of tinnitus and/or vestibular as appropriate. The applicant should be aware they may be expected to work cross-site between our three clinics: University Hospital Lewisham, Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich and Queen Marys Hospital in Sidcup.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

BSc Degree in Audiology / OR / BAAT exam Part 1 / 2 + relevant additional qualification (BT/CertHE etc)

Desirable

MSc Degree in Audiology

Experience Essential

Significant years post qualification audiology experience Experience of working in an NHS setting / Audiology Department

Desirable

Experience in specialist area of Audiology (tinnitus/vestibular/learning disability)

Skills Essential

Ability to provid training / supervision to junior staff members / students

Desirable

Experience using GN Resound software/hearing aids Experience using Auditbase patient management system Able to conduct advanced audiology-testing; (OAE/speech testing/Speech in noise etc.) Completed Audiology Supervisors Course
