Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust (BWC) are the Lead Provider of the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative (WMCPC) - bringing together integrated provision of specialist inpatient mental health, learning disability and autism services, for young people aged 13-18.
As part of the WMCPC offer, we are driving exciting innovation aligned to the NHSE CYP Developmental Specification. WMCPC's Innovation is setting out to develop Low Secure and High Intensity Environments to provide care and treatment to some of our most vulnerable CYP in the West Midlands.
High Intensity Environments (HIE) outlined in the new Children and Young People's Intensive Mental Health Service developmental service specification will deliver enhanced therapeutic inpatient models, providing care for children and young people with complex trauma and/or mental health needs that cannot be met within a less secure environment than previous models have enabled.
Main duties of the job
The role will drive to support clinical research, strengthen the basics of research infrastructure and utilise the data intelligently to support the commissioning cycle and to increase the base for children and young people's mental health recovery. There is a need for us to consider 'new T4 care models' and to ensure that our models are evidence based and improving outcomes for our patients.
The role of Nurse Consultant will support the translation of research into practical formal training programs and support future commissioning. By using the latest clinical evidence, we will design initiatives that reflect best practices, ensuring our workforce remains up to date, whilst also allowing for training to be standardised across all Providers. Studying CYP mental health inpatient and admission avoidance concepts and new service models allows us to design effective training and develop similar inpatient and enhanced specialist support services models.
As a Nurse Consultant, you will be leading on research and evaluation, workforce and quality improvement within the High Intensity Environments.
By teaming up with national networks of local universities, research hubs and providers the role aims to set new standards for a workforce development and evidence based commissioning for CYP with complex mental health needs requiring inpatient care.

Qualifications Essential
List qualifications required - include level of qualification and the subject required Educated to Masters level in healthcare or equivalent experience Registered Nurse with current NMC registration Leadership and/or management training.
