Main duties of the job

Provide high quality, patient centred care to a diverse practice population through a mixture of routine, urgent and follow up appointments. You will work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team including GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Nurses, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers and Care Coordinators to deliver safe, effective and efficient care.

The role offers a balanced mix of clinical consultations, review of test results and clinical correspondence, medication management and referral decision making. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of services, support quality improvement initiatives and help shape the future direction of the practice.

Salaried General Practitioner (6 Sessions per Week)

Job Title: Salaried General Practitioner Reports To: Partners and Practice Manager Hours: 6 Sessions per Week (24 hours) Location: Great North Medical Group, Doncaster Contract Type: Permanent

Job Purpose

To provide high quality primary care services to the registered patients of Great North Medical Group, delivering safe, effective and patient centred care in line with NHS and GMC standards. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the ongoing development of services within the practice.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

The Salaried GP will be responsible for:

Providing comprehensive medical services to registered patients through face to face, telephone and video consultations. Assessing, diagnosing and managing patients presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions. Developing and implementing appropriate treatment plans in accordance with current clinical guidelines. Prescribing safely and effectively within practice and national prescribing policies. Managing patients with complex and multiple health needs. Undertaking home visits where clinically appropriate. Reviewing pathology reports, radiology results and other clinical correspondence. Completing referrals to secondary care and community services. Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using the practice clinical system. Providing health promotion advice and preventative healthcare interventions. Participating in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in accordance with local and national policies. Duty Dr Responsibilities on a weekly basis

Team Working and Communication

Work collaboratively with GPs, Advanced Practitioners, Nursing Teams, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Engage positively with colleagues to support the efficient running of the practice. Participate in clinical meetings and practice development activities. Provide clinical support and advice to members of the wider healthcare team where appropriate.

Quality, Governance and Patient Safety

Maintain registration with the General Medical Council and comply with all professional standards. Participate in clinical governance activities, including significant event reviews and audits. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the practice. Ensure compliance with CQC standards and NHS contractual requirements. Maintain awareness of and adhere to practice policies and procedures. Report incidents, near misses and patient safety concerns in accordance with practice policy.

Teaching and Development

Participate in continuing professional development and appraisal processes. Maintain an up to date personal development plan. Support the education and training of healthcare professionals, students and trainees when required. Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues to promote best practice.

General Responsibilities

Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of work. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GDPR and NHS requirements. Comply with Health and Safety legislation and practice policies. Act in a professional manner that reflects the values of the practice and NHS.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Experience of working within UK General Practice. Ability to manage a broad range of clinical conditions independently. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team environment. Commitment to evidence based practice and high standards of patient care.

Desirable

Experience of SystmOne. Interest in a specialist clinical area. E.g. Diabetes, Minor Ops, Contraception (IUD and Implant services.) Experience in teaching or mentoring healthcare professionals. Involvement in service development and quality improvement projects.

Qualifications Essential

MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification. Full registration with the General Medical Council. Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List. MRCGP qualification or equivalent.

Desirable

Certificate in Minor Surgery Competence in Intrauterine Techniques (LoC IUT) Competence in Subdermal Contraceptive Implants (LoC SDI).
