About this role
Childcare Volunteers assist staff in providing high-quality care for children aged 2-12Y by helping monitor safety and engaging children through play in our Child Development Centre.
Responsibilities:
• Actively and enthusiastically participate with children 2-12Y
• Encourage a positive, play-based environment for children
• Help plan and implement age-appropriate, play-based activities
• Greet parents and children in a friendly and welcoming manner
• Help ensure the safety of all children by being aware of situations and the environment
• Assist with cleaning the space and supplies
• Know how to assist in emergency procedures
• Check messages and communicate regularly with supervisors
• Log hours on the appropriate time sheet
• Be reliable and punctual (arrive ready for shift in proper uniform)
Qualities:
• Willing to learn new processes and follow procedures
• Enthusiastic, helpful, welcoming, and comfortable interacting with children and families
• Ability to engage with children 2-12Y
Work Term:
• September – June.
• Weekday evenings and weekend mornings
• 2 shifts/week. Shifts are 2-3 hours long
Qualifications/ Skills Required:
• Between 13 and 17 years of age.
• Completion of minimum Emergency First Aid with CPR C or Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion.
• Completion of Volunteer Training – Provided by Westside.
• Ability to engage with children 2-12Y
