Journeyperson Automotive Mechanic
SOUTHLAND is currently seeking a Journeyperson Mechanic to join our team of maintenance professionals. This is a self-directed and independent worker's dream role! This role is responsible for servicing/repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. This position is not confined to Okotoks shop activities as the Mechanic may be required to perform mobile field work on units as required.
Duties
• Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses
• Diagnose equipment problems
• CVIP Inspections
• Respond to breakdowns
• Spring and winter maintenance
• Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
• Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities
• Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines
Requirements
• Journeyperson Ticket (Automotive)
• Own hand tools
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• 2 – 5 years of related experience
• Valid Driver's License (Class 2 or 3 considered an asset)
• CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License considered an asset
• Exposure to working on diesel engines
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to comprehend/operate diagnostic and manual measuring tools, including micrometers, brake drum gauge, Ohmmeters, and AVR (Amps, Volts & Resistors)
• Computer proficiency
Remuneration
• $40.00 per hour
• Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday)

• Annual Tool and Boot Allowance (pro-rated from start date - available in last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year)
