About this role

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the hospitality division of the Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center, this position is responsible for providing ultimate service to all guests. In all interactions, the position is responsible for providing STAR Experience to guests and fellow team members a first priority.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Shooting Star Casino team members will always deliver excellent guest service to our guests and fellow co-workers.

Delivers sets up and/or serves food and beverages to ensure proper arrangements and guest satisfaction.

• Reads and interprets banquet event orders (BEO) and sets event rooms according to detailed instructions.

• Delivers, sets up and/or serves food and beverages to guests, including, but not limited to, plated service, buffet-lines, cash bars, concessions.

• Clears plates, utensils, food, condiments and trash from tables when guests are finished; put all items in the proper place (storage) promptly; return all food to the kitchen area.

• Functions in a team capacity, which may entail help in set-up, prep cook and steward areas.

• Responsible to work in concessions, cash bars; knowledge of point-of-sale system and cash handling.

Maintains a clean workspace to ensure efficient operations of the banquet department.

• Ensure all equipment is in proper working condition, reporting any repairs or replacement needs to the banquet captain/lead.

• Cleans and maintains all equipment used in the banquet department.

• Performs light housekeeping duties when guests leave.

• Performs cleaning duties in the “back-of- the-house” area, including, inventorying, organizing supplies and equipment.

Listens and responds to guest concerns to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction.

• Provides prompt, courteous and professional service to guests by listening to and answering a variety of questions and complaints, then routing to the appropriate personnel.

• Ensure strict confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

High school diploma or General Education Degree GED preferred. At least four months experience or training in food service preferred, guest service or related field.

Certificates, Licenses & Designations

Must meet the requirements as prescribed by the Tribal-State compact for Gaming.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Knowledge of the casino's products and services; knowledge of functions of banquet department.

• Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions and ability to understand banquet event orders.

• Ability to communicate pre-established rules and guidelines to guests.

• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.

• Ability to work cooperatively within a group to make the work of the group successful and effective.

• Ability to follow procedures and give attention to detail.

• Skills in basic math include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and percentages as they pertain to cash handling.

• Ability to follow procedures and pay close attention to detail.

• Ability to occasionally twist.

• Ability to occasionally stoop.

• Ability to occasionally bend or squat.

• Ability to occasionally climb stairs or ladders.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work is performed in meeting rooms, and includes functions such as meetings, conferences, wedding receptions, social events and concerts.

• Occasional exposure to loud noise levels.

• Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.

• Occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens.
