Pay
$2,000 Sign-On Bonus available for qualified knife skills. Starting pay of $19.65 to $21.00 per hour; top pay up to $32.10 per hour. Pay includes a $1.00 perfect attendance incentive.
Position Summary
Skilled Knife Laborers perform precision cutting, trimming, boning, and processing of beef products while maintaining product quality, yield standards, food safety requirements, and production efficiency. Positions may be available throughout the Harvest and Fabrication plant located in Omaha, NE.
This role is ideal for individuals with previous meat processing, slaughter, fabrication, butcher, or other commercial knife experience who can safely and efficiently work in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Use knives, hooks, and other cutting tools to trim, bone, separate, and process beef products.
• Remove fat, bone, cartilage, connective tissue, and other inedible materials according to specifications.
• Follow product specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
• Maintain production flow while working safely and efficiently on moving production lines.
• Properly handle, sort, and transfer products to designated conveyors, containers, or processing areas.
• Follow all food safety, USDA, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
• Keep knives and tools properly sharpened, sanitized, and maintained.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and use safe cutting techniques at all times.
• Assist with maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Skills and Requirements
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be willing to relocate to Omaha, NE.
• Must be willing to work with sharp knives, cutting tools, hooks, saws, and/or powered equipment.
• Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift on concrete floors or platforms.
• Must be able to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and grasping motions.
• Must be able to reach for product on conveyor belts, boxes, bags, or other materials.
• Frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying up to 50 pounds; occasional heavier lifting may be required.
• Must be able to work in physically demanding conditions.
• Must be willing to wear all required PPE, which may include a hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection, face mask, face shield, steel-toed rubber boots or closed-toe shoes, frock, gloves, mesh gloves or aprons, and other required safety equipment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
• Previous professional knife experience.
• Experience in meat processing, fabrication, slaughter, butchery, or food production preferred.
• Ability to safely use and maintain knives and cutting tools.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while meeting quality and productivity standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Schedule
1st Shift. Typically Monday through Friday. Fridays, Saturdays, and overtime may vary based on production needs.
Work Environment
• Work may take place in cold, damp, wet, or humid conditions, including areas near or below freezing.
• Some areas may include unpleasant odors, livestock harvesting, or work in and around bloody areas.
• Harvest areas may include extreme heat, up to 104 degrees.
• Some work areas are loud, and hearing protection is required.
• Team members may stand for extended periods on concrete floors, elevated platforms, or production platforms.
• This role requires repetitive hand, wrist, and body movements throughout the shift.
