POSITION: Project Coordinator – Construction & Development
LOCATION: Vancouver, BC
DEPARTMENT: APLP, Construction & Development
REPORTS TO: VP, Construction & Development (Properties)
JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Coordinator – Construction & Development will support the VP, Construction & Development in overseeing various real estate development projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a solid understanding of project management principles, and a keen ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
This position is predominantly site based; and candidates must be able to travel to project sites as required to support construction activities and stakeholder coordination.
1. Project Coordination:
• Assist the construction team in planning and executing construction and development projects from inception to completion.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones are achieved.
• Track project timelines, deliverables, and budgets to ensure adherence to project plans.
• Manage documentation, including contracts, permits, and change orders.
2. Site Management:
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.
• Assist in resolving on-site issues and coordinate with the construction team to ensure seamless workflow.
3. Budget & Cost Control:
• Assist in preparing and monitoring project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Review and track invoices, change orders, and project expenditures.
4. Stakeholder Communication:
• Maintain regular communication with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders, providing updates on project status, risks, and issues.
• Prepare and present project reports and documentation for internal and external audiences.
5. Risk Management:
• Identify potential risks to the project and assist in developing strategies for mitigation.
• Assist in developing contingency plans to address potential project delays or obstacles.
6. Administrative Support:
• Maintain project management documentation, including schedules, reports, and progress updates.
• Assist in preparing tender documents, reviewing bids, and evaluating contractor proposals.
7. Compliance & Quality Control:
• Ensure projects meet all legal, safety, and environmental standards and requirements.
• Assist in quality control efforts by coordinating inspections and reviewing project outputs with the ability to recognize and identify construction built quality and identify deficiencies.
SKILL & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• 3–5 years of experience in project coordination, construction, or real estate development.
• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field.
• Good understanding of construction and development processes, including permits, contracts, and project timelines.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and keep projects on track.
• Ability to coordinate and communicate with contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
• Experience supporting budgets and tracking project costs is an asset.
• Comfortable conducting site visits and ensuring work meets safety and quality standards.
• Good communication and reporting skills (written and verbal).
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and quality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of project management tools is an asset.
• Must have access to a personal vehicle and a valid driver's license.
• Basic procurement and site purchasing experience is a plus.
