JOB TITLE: Housekeeper - (HKPR)
DEPARTMENT: Operations
PURPOSE: Reports to Kitchen Manager and is responsible for a clean, sanitary and safe living and work environment, in compliance with regulations as mandated by federal, state and local laws. Acts as role model to volunteers.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Cleans and maintains all areas in all buildings at the base facility.
• Operates and maintains facility housekeeping equipment and assures its proper use and storage to include carpet cleaning system, buffer / scrubber and vacuum cleaners.
• Assists with ground maintenance as needed; watering the grounds, maintaining mulch beds, trimming bushes, removal of snow, and salting of walks when necessary.
• Participates as a presenter for departmental or staff education programs.
• Advises staff on proper sanitation and cleaning procedures when necessary.
• Washes and changes linens in preparation for respite guests.
• Assists in the development and implements the annual housekeeping preventive maintenance schedules.
• Maintains paper and liquid hygiene stock for living and public bathrooms for all facility buildings.
• Attends education in-service programs and serves as a presenter for various in-services when required by the Operations Director.
EDUCATION:
High School Graduate or equivalent.
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Minimum of six (6) months experience preferred as a housekeeper.
Knowledge of general cleaning agents and their proper use.
Experience preferred in general cleaning and use of a carpet cleaning system, buffer / scrubber, vacuum cleaners, etc.
Need minimal supervision.
Ability to teach proper cleaning techniques to staff and clients.
Valid driver's license.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be available to work in emergency situations.
Ability to work flexible shifts, days / hours when requested to by the Operations Director.
May be exposed to infectious diseases and behaviorally aggressive individuals.
LIFTING REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
