About the Senior Accounting Specialist role

The Senior Accounting Specialist is a core member of IDinsight's global finance team, responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records across the organization's multi-entity structure. This role combines technical accounting rigor with cross-functional collaboration, supporting day-to-day transaction review through to global audits and consolidated statutory reporting. The role serves as institutional knowledge anchor for accounting operations,, including leading finance process improvements, supporting ERP transformation, and building team capability through training. This is a global accounting role housed under IDinsight India, with a strong technical understanding of multi-jurisdictional compliance frameworks, global financial consolidation across all IDinsight entities, and the ability to navigate diverse regulatory environments spanning USA, Asia, and Africa regions.

Responsibilities

The Senior Accounting Specialist will deliver and support the following areas:

1. General Ledger, Journal Entries & Balance Sheet Reconciliation

• Review and upload journal entries in the accounting system, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper supporting documentation.

• Verify that entries comply with internal controls and IDinsight's accounting policies prior to posting.

• Coordinate multi-entity postbacks across India, US, South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Morocco, Senegal, and other entities during monthly close.

• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations across all accounts.

• Investigate and resolve variances; maintain reconciliation schedules as audit-ready documentation.

• Manage intercompany reconciliations, including lease accounting, software cost allocations, prepaid journals, and insurance accruals across entities.

2. Revenue Reconciliation & Accounts Receivable

• Own the full revenue reconciliation process, tracking AR aging across all entities, matching receipts to invoices in the ERP, flagging mismatches with FP&A and project teams, and resolving intercompany income items.

• Confirm completeness and accuracy of income recognition in line with IDinsight's revenue recognition policies.

• Review and provide oversight on transfer pricing (TP) invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with intercompany agreements; train relevant team members on TP invoice processes.

3. Global Audit Support & Statutory Compliance

• Support the organization's global audit by preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor queries, and compiling supporting documentation.

• Coordinate with country office admin teams to gather required information within agreed timelines.

• Act as the primary point of contact for multi-country audit requests (e.g., South Africa HLB audit), managing outstanding items through to closure.

• Support statutory compliance requirements across all IDinsight entities, with a strong technical understanding of global VAT, GST, WHT (Withholding Tax), PAYE (Pay As You Earn), EPF (Employees' Provident Fund), TDS, advance tax, and other region-specific tax and regulatory obligations.

• Lead multi-country tax compliance tasks across IDinsight's entity footprint, including payroll-related filings (e.g., SARS/EMP statements for South Africa), Kenya ETR invoices, and related vendor and government portal coordination. Ensure technical compliance with regional frameworks such as India GST/TDS, South Africa VAT/PAYE, Kenya WHT/VAT, Zambia NAPSA, Morocco IR/TVA, Senegal TVA, and US federal/state filings.

• Maintain organized records and compliance schedules across entities.

4. Global Consolidated Financial Statements & Form 990 Preparation (USA)

• Prepare global consolidated financial statements for quarterly and annual reporting across all IDinsight entities (India, US, South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Morocco, Senegal, and others), including intercompany eliminations, multi-currency translation, and consolidation adjustments in compliance with applicable accounting standards.

• Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and delivered within reporting deadlines.

• Coordinate global consolidation schedules across entities, ensuring alignment of chart of accounts, elimination entries, and reporting packages for group-level reporting.

• Assist in the preparation of Form 990 for IDinsight's US entity, ensuring accurate and timely filing in line with IRS requirements and nonprofit regulatory standards.

• Maintain organized records and supporting schedules for all 990-related disclosures.

5. Program BVA & Utilization Reporting

• Provide requested data for Program BVA (Budget vs. Actuals) utilization reporting to FP&A and project teams within agreed timelines.

• Support project-level financial tracking by reconciling program expenditures against approved budgets and flagging variances for management review.

• Collaborate with project managers and FP&A to ensure accurate and timely BVA data is available for donor reporting and internal decision-making.

6. Employee Advances & Full and Final Settlement

• Manage the end-to-end process for employee advances, including issuance, tracking, aging analysis, and recovery across all entities.

• Oversee the full and final settlement of departing employees by validating sub-ledger balances, clearing outstanding advances, reconciling leave encashment, gratuity, and other terminal benefits, and ensuring timely closure in the ERP system.

• Ensure compliance with local labor and tax regulations (e.g., TDS on settlements in India, PAYE in Kenya/South Africa) during the settlement process.

7. ERP Management & Process Improvement

• Serve as the institutional knowledge anchor for Unit4 (current ERP), including maintaining internal controls around user roles and access, chart of accounts integrity, and system troubleshooting.

• Support the organization's ERP transition (Microsoft Business Central) by contributing to workflow design, process documentation, user acceptance testing, and team onboarding.

• Collaborate with Finance, FP&A, and Systems teams to identify automation opportunities and configure accounting workflows in the new ERP environment.

• Proactively identify inefficiencies in accounting processes, particularly during monthly close, audit cycles, and cross-entity reconciliation, and propose and implement solutions.

• Lead or contribute to finance automation and standardization initiatives, including building shared trackers, improving close checklists, and streamlining intercompany workflows.

• Document standard operating procedures for key accounting processes to support team resilience and knowledge transfer.

8. Team Training & Capability Building

• Lead internal training sessions on financial accounting operations, ERP usage, and accounting best practices for the finance team.

• Train team members on TP invoice review, revenue reconciliation processes, and close procedures.

• Expand and maintain SLA reporting to track finance team performance and accountability.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, multi-jurisdictional experience, and a track record of process ownership.

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a global or multi-entity setup, with hands-on exposure to multi-currency and multi-geography accounting operations.

• Demonstrated experience in handling financial accounting across multiple jurisdictions spanning USA, Asia, and Africa, including intercompany transactions, foreign currency translations, and consolidation adjustments.

• Well-versed with IFRS, US GAAP, or relevant regional GAAP standards, with the ability to apply appropriate accounting treatments across diverse regulatory environments.

• Strong working knowledge of reporting frameworks, including consolidated financial statements, management reporting, and donor/funder reporting requirements.

• Proven track record of managing stakeholder relationships by providing accurate, timely, and reliable financial information to internal teams, leadership, auditors, and external partners.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data validation, conditional formatting, and financial modelling.

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Unit4, Microsoft Business Central, SAP, or similar) in a multi-entity accounting environment.

• Technical understanding of global tax and regulatory compliance frameworks (VAT, GST, WHT, PAYE, EPF, and other regional obligations)

• Experience supporting or leading statutory audits, tax compliance filings, and regulatory reporting across multiple countries.

Education & Certifications

• Chartered Accountant (CA) from ICAI or equivalent international body.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from AICPA or equivalent.

• Company Secretary (CS) with relevant financial accounting experience.

• Cost and Works Accountant (CWA) / Cost and Management Accountant (CMA).

• Any other globally recognized accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CGA, or equivalent).

• MBA in Finance (with a strong emphasis on core financial accounting and reporting).
