About this role
This student internship is being offered as a part of EO's Ignite Internships program and is for high school students only. This internship is offered in partnership with the Bristol Virginia Public Schools (BVPS) and is open to BVPS students only. This position is in person, located at the BVPS Central Office, not remote. Students will be employed by BVPS and all hiring decisions will be made by BVPS personnel. BVPS has provided the following job description for this internship:
Bristol Virginia Public Schools is seeking a responsible and motivated high school student to serve as a shared intern in the Finance and Human Resources Departments. This internship provides meaningful exposure to professional office operations while supporting essential district functions.
The selected student will gain hands-on experience in clerical procedures, organization, confidentiality, and workplace professionalism.
• Can quickly learn standard office procedures and general instructions.
• Demonstrated responsibility and strong attention to detail
• Ability to follow instructions and established procedures
• Willingness to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
• Ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team environment
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Familiarity with standard office equipment (copier, printer, etc.)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Interest in business, finance, public administration, or human resources
Responsibilities:
• File and maintain records, including documents containing confidential personnel and financial information
• Assist with front desk operations such as answering phones and directing visitors
• Scan, copy, and shred sensitive documents in accordance with office procedures
• Support general office operations, including inventory tracking and supply organization
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by department staff or administrators
