About this role

Primary Objective of Position:

The primary objective of this position is to maintain accurate, organized, and accessible company inventory, materials, equipment, and assets. This position is responsible for supporting inventory tracking, organization, cycle counts, receiving, issuing, and maintaining inventory records. The position will also assist the shop and facilities team with day-to-day tasks related to the organization, safety, cleanliness, maintenance, and operation of the shop, yard, facilities, and field assets as needed.

Major Areas of Accountability:

• Inventory Management – Responsible for the day-to-day organization and management of company inventory, materials, tools, equipment, and supplies. Maintains accurate inventory records, locations, quantities, and condition of inventory. Receives, organizes, labels, stores, and issues materials and equipment as needed. Identifies discrepancies, damaged or missing items, and communicates inventory concerns to management.

• Inventory Counts & Accuracy – Performs routine inventory counts, cycle counts, and asset condition checks. Investigates and reports discrepancies and assists with maintaining accurate inventory records and documentation. Helps establish and maintain consistent inventory organization and tracking practices.

• Inventory Organization & Storage – Ensures inventory, materials, tools, and equipment are properly stored, labeled, secured, and maintained in an organized and accessible manner. Identifies opportunities to improve storage, organization, and inventory processes.

• Receiving & Distribution – Coordinates the receipt, organization, storage, and distribution of materials, equipment, and supplies. Verifies incoming materials against applicable documentation. Prepares materials and equipment for issue to employees, crews, projects, or field locations. Maintains appropriate documentation of materials and equipment moving into and out of inventory.

• Asset Inspection & Condition – Performs weekly asset and facility checklist inspections and reports findings, including maintenance or repair requirements. Properly handles, cleans, stores, and secures company assets and equipment to ensure they remain in proper and safe working order.

• Shop, Yard & Facilities Support – Performs shop and facilities duties as needed to maintain the organization, safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the shop, yard, facilities, and field assets. Duties include sweeping, garbage removal, basic property repairs, painting, carpentry, shelving, detailing and fueling field vehicles, snow removal, basic grounds maintenance, and maintaining property and asset security.

• Trailer Loading/Unloading and Reconciliation – Performs trailer loading and unloading activities as required, following established checklists and completing and logging inspections to ensure equipment and materials are safely and properly prepared for shipment to the field and returned in appropriate condition.

• Courier & Material Transportation – Operates company vehicles to pick up and deliver materials, equipment, and supplies as assigned. Ensures materials and equipment are handled and transported safely.

• Safety & Security – Performs all work in accordance with established safety rules, procedures, and protocols. Maintains awareness of safety and security requirements for inventory, equipment, vehicles, buildings, and yard areas. Ensures assigned areas and assets are properly secured.

• Emergent Availability – This position requires intermittent availability during weekends, evenings, and early mornings for emergency projects. This does not restrict the use of their time off from work and will only be required to report to work when emergency jobs are prevalent.

• Process Improvement – Supports the effort of ISO 9001 and process improvement by recommending methods, equipment, techniques, and other changes to improve inventory management and company operations. Participates in internal audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions as required.

• Other Duties – Performs any other work as apparent or assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous experience in inventory, warehouse, material handling, construction, manufacturing, or a related field preferred but not required.

• Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory tracking and company systems.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately count, track, and organize materials and equipment.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain an orderly inventory system.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, checklists, and established procedures.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.

• Dependable attendance and willingness to assist with a variety of shop, facilities, and inventory-related duties.

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

• Ability to safely operate or learn to operate applicable shop, material-handling, and facility equipment.

• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, vendors, and field personnel.

Physical Demands

• Regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and work in various positions while performing job duties.

• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.

• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 – 75 pounds independently and assist with heavier items, including up to 700 lb welder machines, as needed.

• Ability to work on ladders, in trailers, around vehicles, and in warehouse, shop, and outdoor environments.

• Ability to safely load, unload, move, and organize materials and equipment using appropriate tools or equipment.

• Ability to work in varying temperatures and weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.

• Ability to safely operate or work around vehicles, equipment, machinery, and other shop/yard operations.

• Requires sufficient vision, hearing, coordination, and mobility to safely perform assigned duties.

• May be required to work extended hours, weekends, early mornings, or evenings during emergency projects or operational needs.
