The Stringless Controls Technician position will begin in Topeka, KS, and then require extended travel and work throughout the Midwest (e.g. Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska).

Primary Function: The Stringless Controls Technician position is responsible for setting stringless controls equipment to effectively communicate with paving equipment and other machinery. This position will work on highway construction projects and may operate a variety of hand and power tools, air hammers, and measuring equipment.
Typical Duties: Independently setting stringline and concrete forms.
Setting up stringless controls equipment to effectively communicate with machinery.
May lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies. May assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills: Must be able to follow directions. Must be able work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold. Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. Must be able to climb, stoop, bend, and squat as required for various duties. Must adhere to safety requirements as outline in the Employee Handbook. Must be able to work in a team environment and assist co-workers and supervisors with other duties as required.
Working Conditions:
Move joint baskets weighing up to 70 lbs. from knee to chest height, place basket on ground, and secure by hammering retain clips into the ground.
Insert L-bar 2 ft. into concrete slab every 2 ft, roughly 1,500 daily.
Shovel excess concrete from paved surfaces and carry 75 lbs. up to 150 ft.
Walk along paver on hard surface that can be periodically uneven for 10-14 hours per day.
Clean concrete and other materials from pavers and equipment.
Pick up, carry, and set large signs and traffic control devices.
Required Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen with a "Negative" result. Must be able to complete a post-offer physical with a "Capable" result.
