Essential Functions
Community Engagement
• Engage the community by building and maintaining relationships between the community members, local authorities, community leaders, schools and partner organizations, staff and volunteers. Involve the community in decisions and provide timely, relevant, and culturally sensitive support as needed, tracking all community meetings and events.
• Facilitate meaningful community participation for the duration of the project through design, implementation, monitoring and closeout.
• Identify the community structures, its boundaries, leadership influencers and vulnerable populations through regular activities such as stakeholder and actor mapping.
• Establish and support representative community committees to ensure appropriate inclusive representation and participation of various social groups and vulnerable populations.
• Ensure clear communication between AH&H and the community:
• Identify cultural factors (bi-directional) and create appropriate guidelines.
• Provide transparency to the Community regarding AH&H projects and objectives.
• Manage expectations by clearly communicating AH&H processes and methodologies.
• Ensure communication with the local community and government authorities regarding project milestones, timelines and objectives.
• Manage communication with neighboring communities to ensure cohesion.
• Support and at times facilitate training around cultural awareness, sensitivity and local community expectations for program staff and volunteers.
Community Capacity Building
• In coordination with the In/Country Partnerships Manager, develop, coordinate, and facilitate participatory community education and capacity-building activities aligned with project objectives.
• Deliver training sessions using adult learning methodologies that encourage participation and practical application.
• Facilitate community trainings and awareness sessions on topics including: Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), Community-Based First Aid, Child Rights and Child Safeguarding, Environmental awareness and climate resilience, Safe construction practices and other project-specific technical topics, as applicable.
• Support Training of Trainers (ToT) initiatives to strengthen local ownership and sustainability.
• Adapt training materials to local languages, literacy levels, and cultural contexts.
• Support cultural awareness and community orientation sessions for AHAH staff and volunteers, as needed
Participant Selection & Community Mobilization
• Coordinate transparent and accountable participant identification, verification, and selection processes in accordance with organizational procedures and donor requirements.
• Support project registration, household assessments, and community validation exercises.
• Mobilize communities to participate in project activities, demonstrations, trainings, and community-led initiatives.
• In collaboration with the community, identify and create meaningful proposals for Community Led Projects. Empower community members throughout the creation and implementation stages of selected projects.
• Support volunteer engagement activities that strengthen relationships between volunteers and host communities.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)
• Work with the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation to finalize context-appropriate surveys and their translations for the program M&E Plan
• Maintain accurate records of community meetings, trainings, attendance, and engagement activities.
• Conduct participant registration, pre- and post-training assessments, and participant satisfaction surveys.
• Collect, document, and respond to community feedback through established accountability mechanisms.
• Capture community engagement and capacity-building data points and collaborate closely with the MEAL team to ensure data quality.
• Support baseline, endline, and post-activity monitoring exercises related to community learning and behavior change using established survey and focus group discussion tools.
• Identify lessons learned and recommend improvements to community responsiveness strategies.
• Support the Program Director and Director of Monitoring and Evaluation in implementing meaningful community feedback and accountability frameworks.
Coordination & Program Support
• Collaborate closely with Program, Technical, Development, Communications, Operations and MEAL teams to coordinate community activities.
• Maintain network and linkage with local government as and when required.
• Act as a liaison between the local government and the program team on the ground.
• Assist PD, OM and PM in the local hiring procedures and community support.
• Support the Program Director in compiling program specific fortnightly and end of program reports for the organization.
• Support with the base operations and base staff management.
• Other duties as required.
Position Requirements
Education High School Diploma or equivalent.
Related Experience Previous experience working or volunteering with All Hands and Hearts preferred. +1 years experience working with community projects.
Special Competencies/Certifications Must have a valid driving license. Must be fluent in at least one language/dialect used in the region of the project. Excellent written and oral communication skills (in English) and confident working with Google Workspace, particularly Google Docs and Google Sheets; and Microsoft Office. The individual needs to be well organized and have a flexible approach to managing multiple tasks and prioritizing them appropriately. The individual is able to manage a large workload and perform in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits
• Typical starting salary is $1,200 - $1,375 USD / month, and up to $1,550 for highly qualified candidates who have previous experience in this role.
