About this role
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Tasks: Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel. Prepare rough plans and sketches. Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to base. Align and straighten tiles. Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools. Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout. Supervise other workers. Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs. Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires and brackets. Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite. Estimate costs and materials. Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces. Install tile strips. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years. Workplace information: On the road job. Support for newcomers and refugees: Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.). Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.). Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) . Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees . Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees . Does not require Canadian work experience. Support for Indigenous people: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers . Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations . Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers .
