Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Work setting: Rural area. Remote location. Tasks: Diagnose livestock health issues. Handling animals. Monitoring animal health. Perform livestock feeding. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Track and report on current feed inventory . Treat livestock health issues. Weaning. Feed and tend animals. Maintain quality control and production records. Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens. Maintain work records and logs. Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry. Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops. Area of specialization: Swine. Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is not available. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently.
