About this role

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Dusty. Noisy. Odours. Livestock. Dirty. Work setting: Rural area. Staff accommodation available. Tasks: Diagnose livestock health issues. Handling animals. Monitoring animal health. Perform livestock feeding. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Weaning. Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment. Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Maintain livestock performance records. Maintain quality control and production records. Select livestock for sale. Maintain work records and logs. Perform general farm duties. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Equipment and machinery experience: Feeding and watering system. Tractor. Area of specialization: Agricultural livestock service. Swine.
