About this role

Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Noisy. Work setting: Manufacture. Tasks: Interpret welding process specifications. Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines. Fit, braze and torch-straighten metal. Determine weldability of materials. Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment. Inspect assemblies for alignment, symmetry, dimensions, fit and quality of workmanship. Welding techniques: Resistance, spot or seam. Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW). Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG). Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Equipment and machinery experience: Gas welding machine. Spot welding machine. Area of specialization: Custom fabrication. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Welding helmet. Personal suitability: Flexibility. Organized. Screening questions: Do you have experience working in this field?.
