Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Repair. Overhaul. Shopwork. Tasks: Assemble mechanical equipment. Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Repair or replace defective machinery parts. Fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up. Operate machining tools to fabricate parts. Commission systems and components. Welding techniques: Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW). Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG). Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Equipment and machinery experience: Hydraulic system. Pneumatic system. Power tools. Power transmission system. Welding equipment. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Standing for extended periods.
