Job Title: Sheet Metal HVAC AssemblerJob DescriptionThis role focuses on constructing sheet metal HVAC equipment casings according to detailed job specifications and blueprints. You will assemble and align structural components, use a variety of hand and power tools, and ensure each unit meets quality, safety, and dimensional requirements. The position requires strong attention to detail, accurate record keeping, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Construct sheet metal HVAC equipment casings according to job specifications and engineering drawings. • Use overhead cranes, power tools, hand tools, wrenches, levels, and other equipment safely and effectively during assembly. • Perform mathematical calculations involving addition and subtraction of dimensions represented in decimal and fractional form. • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints for design details, dimensions, and tolerances to ensure accurate assembly. • Follow manufacturing, materials, and accounting record-keeping practices by promptly and accurately logging all pertinent information. • Level base frames accurately as part of the assembly process. • Fasten sheet metal onto base frames using appropriate mechanical fasteners. • Use drawings to accurately position unit components, such as heaters and fans, onto base frames. • Assemble structural components including dampers, walls, roofs, drip edges, and doors, ensuring safety, quality, and proper fit. • Inspect assembled components to verify alignment, fit, and compliance with specifications. • Keep leadership informed of problems, opportunities for improvement, questions, or comments related to workflow, equipment, procedures, work methods, safety, and team operations. • Recommend changes to methods or procedures where appropriate to improve safety, quality, or efficiency. • Adhere to established Assembly, Materials, and Accounting record-keeping practices, ensuring accurate and timely data entry. • Maintain equipment, tools, and the work area in a neat, clean, and orderly condition. • Assist in the implementation of changes in methods or procedures as needed. • Accurately track work hours by job and activity on time cards or designated tracking systems. • Accept and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required by customer needs. Essential Skills • Ability to construct sheet metal HVAC equipment casings using drawings and job specifications. • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and schematics for design, dimensions, and tolerances. • Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving addition and subtraction of dimensions in decimal and fractional formats. • Experience using hand tools and small hand tools in a manufacturing environment. • Experience using power tools, including drills and other powered equipment, in assembly work. • Ability to use overhead cranes safely for handling and positioning materials or assemblies. • Skill in using measuring tools such as tape measures and levels to ensure accurate layout and alignment. • Three years of work experience in a team-oriented manufacturing environment, including use of small hand tools. • Capability to lift 50+ lbs regularly and occasionally up to 80 lbs as part of normal job duties. • Ability to follow established manufacturing, materials, and accounting record-keeping practices accurately. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards. • Ability to work effectively as part of an assembly or production team. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Some experience assembling HVAC equipment is desirable. • Background in general labor or production work in a manufacturing setting. • Experience with assembly line operations and structured workflows. • Familiarity with inspection practices to verify dimensions, fit, and quality. • Comfort using both hand and power tools for extended periods. • Ability to assist with process improvements and implementation of new methods or procedures. • Strong communication skills to share feedback on workflow, equipment, and safety. • Reliable time management and accuracy in tracking work hours by job and activity. The workspace requires maintaining a neat, orderly area and adhering to safety guidelines, with appropriate work attire suited to a fabrication and industrial environment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Owatonna, MN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $46800.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
