Job Title: Forklift Operator – Outdoor Production Support (Day Shift)Job DescriptionThis role focuses on safely transporting finished materials from production lines to yard inventory using a forklift and supporting production operations as needed. You will work primarily outdoors, operating material handling equipment, and cross-train in the production area to provide coverage when team members are absent. Responsibilities • Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to move finished materials from production lines to designated inventory areas in the yard. • Load and unload materials and products from production lines, storage areas, and transport vehicles as required. • Work outdoors approximately 90% of the time, handling materials in all weather conditions. • Cross-train in the production area to learn key processes and tasks so you can fill in for associates who are absent. • Assist with basic machine operation and assembly tasks in the production area when needed. • Follow established safety procedures and guidelines while operating forklifts and production equipment. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, both in the yard and in indoor production spaces. • Communicate effectively with production and inventory teams to ensure accurate material flow and placement. • Monitor materials and report any issues related to quality, damage, or inventory discrepancies. • Adapt to changing workloads and priorities, supporting both yard and production operations as required. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of forklift operating experience in a work environment. • At least 1 year of outdoor work experience, comfortable working in all weather conditions. • Experience with loading and unloading materials in a production or warehouse setting. • Ability to operate material handling equipment safely and follow safety protocols. • Comfort with cross-training and performing different tasks in production and yard areas. • Basic understanding of production workflows and material movement. • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled indoor spaces that may become cramped. • Strong attention to safety, situational awareness, and adherence to operational procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Six months of production experience is a plus. • Six months of machine operation experience is a plus. • Experience with assembly tasks in a manufacturing or production environment is beneficial. • Willingness to obtain additional licenses and certifications provided by the company. • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and support coworkers as needed. Work EnvironmentYou will work outdoors approximately 90% of the time in the yard, handling materials in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind. The indoor production environment is not climate controlled and temperatures may vary significantly. At times, the indoor area can feel cramped when scrap material accumulates, requiring good awareness and safe movement around equipment and materials. Dress comfortably and appropriately for outdoor work and changing weather, with practical clothing and footwear suitable for a production and yard setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of London, OH. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.25 - $21.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
