Job Title: Food Services WorkerJob DescriptionThis role supports a busy college cafeteria by preparing and serving lunch and dinner to students, ensuring a clean and welcoming dining area, and delivering friendly, efficient service in a fast-paced foodservice environment. Responsibilities • Prepare and assemble food items such as sandwiches and other basic menu items according to established recipes and instructions. • Cook simple foods and assist with line cooking duties in the cafeteria kitchen. • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring a positive and courteous experience for students and guests. • Maintain cleanliness of dining areas by wiping tables, counters, and service stations regularly. • Restock essential items such as silverware, napkins, condiments, and other supplies to ensure continuous service. • Brew coffee and prepare other basic beverages as needed throughout service periods. • Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. • Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment to appropriate stations and team members. • Resolve basic customer concerns promptly and professionally, and communicate relevant information to the supervisor as needed. • Follow all sanitation, safety, and food handling requirements to comply with health and safety standards. • Support dishwashing duties, including cleaning dishes, trays, and kitchen tools as required. • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall cafeteria operations and team needs. Essential Skills • Experience or familiarity with food preparation and basic cooking tasks. • Ability to follow instructions accurately and consistently. • Strong attention to detail in food handling, cleanliness, and customer service. • Background or experience in foodservice, fast food, or cafeteria-style environments. • Ability to perform cleaning and housekeeping tasks in both kitchen and dining areas. • Experience in roles such as line cook, dishwasher, or chef is beneficial for handling kitchen responsibilities. • Capability to maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in a foodservice setting. • Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience in a cafeteria, fast food, or institutional foodservice setting. • Experience with housekeeping or general cleaning in a commercial environment. • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. • Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks, including cooking, serving, cleaning, and restocking. • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to handle basic concerns professionally. The environment includes line cooking areas, dishwashing stations, and dining spaces, with a total team size of approximately 100 people. The dress code requires slip-resistant shoes and work-appropriate pants or shorts with a shirt that does not display offensive wording or images. Open-toed shoes and crocs are not permitted. Hair nets and aprons are provided to support food safety and sanitation standards. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Winona, MN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
