Job Title: Assembly TechnicianJob DescriptionThis role assembles mechanical products and subassemblies in a manufacturing environment by following detailed documentation, blueprints, and work instructions. The Assembly Technician uses a variety of hand tools and precision measuring instruments to build and inspect aerospace components, ensuring all parts meet customer specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. Responsibilities • Assemble products and subassemblies according to documentation, blueprints, and directions provided. • Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, following blueprint station lines and index points. • Verify fitting tolerances using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, and tape measures. • Install parts, components, structural elements, and subassemblies to build full assemblies and detail parts. • Operate hand tools, including drills, rivet guns, screwdrivers, and other production tools, ensuring they operate safely and correctly. • Locate holes to be drilled in structural assemblies for installation of parts and components using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments. • Drill, ream, and countersink holes in subassemblies and install bolts, rivets, or other fasteners in accordance with drawings and work instructions. • Utilize tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and other gauges to interpret and record part measurements accurately per customer specifications. • Visually inspect parts and assemblies to identify missing, incomplete, or incorrect operations. • Maintain required quantities and operational accountability in line with the manufacturing control plan. • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe, following housekeeping and 5S practices as applicable. • Follow directions consistently and take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of completed work. • Comply with applicable manufacturing processes, work procedures, and supervisor instructions to complete work efficiently and on time. • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures, proactively identify job hazards, and work with leadership to minimize risks and ensure a safe workplace. • Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support production needs. • Maintain regular on-site attendance during scheduled work hours. Essential Skills • General understanding of blueprints and mechanical assembly processes. • Ability to position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures using blueprint station lines and index points. • Proficiency using hand tools such as drills, rivet guns, screwdrivers, and other basic production tools. • Ability to use measuring instruments, including gauges, calipers, micrometers, and tape measures, to verify fitting tolerances and record measurements accurately. • Capability to drill, ream, and countersink holes and install fasteners such as bolts and rivets per drawings and work instructions. • Strong attention to detail for visual inspection of parts and identification of missing or incomplete operations. • Ability to follow established manufacturing processes, work procedures, and written work instructions. • Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to safety guidelines and procedures. • Reliability in maintaining regular on-site attendance and completing tasks on schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Vocational training in a technical or mechanical field is preferred. • Six (6) months of experience in mechanical assembly or a similar production/manufacturing role is preferred. • Experience working with aerospace parts or precision mechanical components is beneficial. • Comfort working with parts ranging from very small components to assemblies as large as the desk area. • Ability to work efficiently in a production environment while maintaining high quality standards. • Willingness to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of hand tools as appropriate. Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a manufacturing environment where employees may be exposed to loud noises and machinery with moving parts. Most completed parts are small enough to fit in a shoebox, although some assemblies are as large as the desk area where the work is performed. The role follows a day shift schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, as part of an 8-week contract assignment. Team members work with hand tools, drills, rivet guns, and precision measuring equipment in a production setting that emphasizes safety, organization, and clean work areas. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, WA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
