Job Title: Construction CoordinatorJob DescriptionThe Construction Coordinator manages field construction activities for general contractors and subcontractors on complex industrial facilities projects. This role oversees construction safety, contract administration, scheduling, and cost control while coordinating closely with the owner and design teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with plans and specifications. The Construction Coordinator serves as a key liaison between stakeholders, providing clear communication, detailed documentation, and proactive problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities • Manage general contractor and subcontractor field construction activities to ensure work complies with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. • Administer construction contracts and coordinate contract changes into overall project delivery. • Conduct on-site inspections to monitor compliance with design documents, construction procedures, and building material requirements. • Manage compliance with construction safety requirements and maintain incident-free projects through proactive oversight and enforcement. • Support project budgets and schedules by completing daily field status reports for management review and identifying potential impacts early. • Review contractor change orders, validate scope and costs, and submit documentation for owner approval. • Coordinate communication between the owner, contractors, and architecture/engineering firms to resolve issues and maintain alignment. • Support the review and processing of requests for information (RFIs), submittals, shop drawings, and construction documents. • Participate in and support weekly general contractor meetings to review progress, issues, and upcoming work. • Prepare clear meeting minutes and action item lists, and track completion of assigned tasks. • Coordinate project close-out activities, including as-built documentation, operations and maintenance manuals, and training for user groups. • Support commissioning and start-up activities by coordinating with relevant teams and ensuring readiness. • Review, prepare, and coordinate completion of punch-list activities to achieve substantial and final completion. • Complete and document all acceptance testing procedures in accordance with project requirements. • Research, plan, and administer building projects using strong knowledge of design, construction procedures, and building materials. • Present regular status reports to the owner, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation strategies. • Maintain thorough knowledge of current and future activities in assigned areas and implement countermeasures to support the project schedule. • Direct the activities of contractors, subcontractors, and testing agencies to support project milestones and maintain alignment with project goals. Essential Skills • At least 5 years of construction and/or architecture/engineering (A/E) firm project management experience. • Demonstrated experience managing general contractors and subcontractors on industrial or facilities projects. • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and safety management. • Experience with construction management, including field supervision and coordination. • Proven project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress. • Experience working with construction documents, including drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings. • Subcontractor management and general contractor oversight experience. • Strong construction supervision and project coordinating capabilities. • Knowledge of cost estimating and construction scheduling. • Automotive industrial construction experience in assembly plants and/or powertrain/unit plants. • Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. • Strong communication skills for coordinating with owners, contractors, and design teams. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. • Experience using Microsoft Project for scheduling. • Experience with Primavera scheduling software. • Familiarity with Autodesk Build or Building Connected platforms. • Ability to read and work with AutoCAD drawings. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Engineering, Architectural, or Construction Management degree. • Alternatively, skilled trades background with supervisory experience as a superintendent or project manager. • Construction project supervision or superintendent experience in industrial environments. • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent advanced safety training. • Experience in industrial construction environments, particularly within automotive manufacturing. • Ability to prepare and present clear status reports to stakeholders. • Strong attention to detail in documentation, meeting minutes, and action item tracking. • Capability to support commissioning and start-up activities for complex facilities. Work EnvironmentThis role supports plant-level construction coordination within a large automotive manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas. The position focuses on industrial construction projects in an active plant environment, working closely with project teams, contractors, and technical staff. The assignment is structured as a long-term, open-ended contract with annual renewals, offering stable project work planned over a 5–10 year horizon. Consultants benefit from flexible schedules that support work/life balance, with the potential for rotation of travel weeks where applicable. Travel requirements are approximately 10%. The organization is growing and invests heavily in continuous expansion, providing broad exposure to complex engineering and construction projects and extensive learning opportunities. The culture emphasizes safety, stability, and long-term relationships with consultants, including efforts to retain contractors even during challenging economic conditions. The work schedule may include overtime, with hours over 40 per week compensated at time and a half. The role offers a competitive time-off structure, including paid time off and holidays, and all travel arrangements for contractors are handled by the supporting organization. Collaboration is supported by established relationships with the client’s vendor management program, enabling strong advocacy for consultants throughout their assignments. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
