POSITION OVERVIEW

Tilcon Connecticut Inc. is seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Accountant to support the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of financial results for assigned lines of business. Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for key general ledger, month-end close, inventory accounting, account reconciliations, and internal control activities. The Senior Accountant applies sound judgment to resolve accounting issues, analyzes financial results, partners with operational and accounting teams, and identifies opportunities to strengthen controls and improve processes. Success in this position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, a sense of ownership, strong collaboration, advanced knowledge of excel and the ability to manage multiple priorities within established deadlines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead assigned activities for the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and post-close financial reporting. Serve as the primary accounting partner for assigned line of business by managing monthly accounting cycle, delivering timely financial analysis, resolving complex accounting issues, and driving monthly operating reviews. Manage inventory accounting activities for assigned line of business, including product / material setup, product cost updates, inventory revaluation analysis, physical inventory counts, and related variance analysis. Prepare and maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations, account allocations, schedules and supporting documentation; investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and validate outstanding items in accordance with established internal controls and segregation-of-duties requirements. Prepare assigned monthly and quarterly state and federal tax filings, including sales and use tax returns, and maintain supporting records. Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, maintaining organized documentation, responding to requests, and assisting with timely resolution of findings. Identify and implement opportunities to strengthen controls, improve accounting processes, automate recurring activities, and enhance the accuracy and timeliness of financial information. Partner with the Controller and cross-functional teams on financial analysis, special projects, system initiatives, and other responsibilities aligned with business needs as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a publicly traded company. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial analysis. Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables,VLOOKUPS). Experience with ERP systems, ViewPoint, SAP a plus. Candidates with manufacturing, construction materials, or heavy-industry experience are prioritized for interviews. Critical core competencies include accuracy, analytical judgment, communication, collaboration, prioritization, and ability to meet short and strict deadlines
