Position Summary:
Edify promotes holistic and high-quality Christ-centered education in partnership with low-fee independent Christ-centered schools. The Regional EdTech Lead is a full-time position and serves a facilitative role. The Regional Lead is responsible for supporting the implementation of Edify’s EdTech strategy in the Central America region. He/she will also coordinate and implement the strategic direction of Edify’s efforts to effectively provide access and integrate technology in partner schools. He/She will support, facilitate, coach, and provide training and technical assistance to country CCEO program leads to assist them in maximizing their effectiveness in providing a robust and integrated EdTech strategy in delivering quality Christ-centered education.
As part of their commitment to holistically strengthening Christ-centered education, the Regional Lead will support the Regional Vice President’s work in implementing program strategy to accomplish agreed targets in program countries.
Work Environment
This position will be full-time based in Central America reporting to the Regional Vice President of Central America Programs. There will also be collaboration with Country Directors and regional teams. The atmosphere of Edify is one where you can expect to perform widely varied tasks related to the role.
Edify believes in the importance of using local resources to avoid duplication and build local capacity. Therefore, most of its program activities are implemented in partnership with local lending and training organizations.
The Regional Lead must familiarize him/herself with Edify’s Global strategy and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and assessing Edify’s Edtech interventions across the Central America region. S/he will also act as a coach and support for the country directors in spearheading the EdTech and other agreed regional strategies for their country in the implementation process. S/he will work closely with other members of the Edify Central America Regional team, along with performing any other related tasks as required.
Travel Expectation
The position includes significant travel throughout Central America operational and Associate countries. In addition to regional travel, Edify holds an annual all-staff meeting, alternating in a US-based or international location each year. Travel would be required to attend this meeting.
Primary Responsibilities
EdTech Vendor and Financial Partner Management
• Identify, develop, and manage relationships with Edtech vendors (Hardware, internet, and software applications providers) in Central American operational countries.
• Using the EdTech framework that has been developed as a basis, design and develop a cost-effective Edtech implementation plan for the Central America region that increases the adoption and integration of Edtech. This approach will need to be approved by the Regional Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
• Proactively identify new or work with existing financial partners to provide low-interest financing for Edtech interventions in operational countries.
• Negotiate maintenance plans/agreements with vendors.
• Seek to support vendors in the development of a financing model for providing computers and paying over time in ways that enable schools to access devices without getting a loan from MFIs.
• Develop and forge a good relationship between Edtech vendors and Financial Partners to promote a seamless adoption process for partner schools.
EdTech Training and Integration
• Identify, develop, and manage relationships with Edtech Training partners in each operational country in the Central America region.
• Design and Develop a biblically-integrated training program that is contextualized and grade-specific, and promotes technology skill development and critical thinking skills for teachers and students in partner schools.
• Develop framework/plans for safe and wise technology use.
• Develop, monitor, and assess the implementation of training in the schools through collaboration with local program leads.
• Develop a training and continuous professional development program for Program Leads and CCEOs in-country to reinforce Edify’s EdTech strategy.
Strategy, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation
• Support Edify leadership in implementing EdTech strategic plans by working with country teams to set short-term objectives and assessing progress that promotes quality Christ-centered education.
• Implement and supervise Edify’s EdTech strategy, ensuring Edtech program targets are attained as intended, especially for core schools. Do this through effective regional program coordination (planning, organizing, leading, and assessment) and effective database management (data entry, data management, and report use) of the EdTech program as it is implemented and deployed by the country programs.
• Proactively develop competitions, workshops, and symposiums that will attract the local and international business communities and parents to support and promote the ethical use of technology in schools.
• Prepare and communicate Edify’s Edtech strategy to staff, partner schools, and donors.
• Support Regional Vice President with real-time metrics for annual planning and mid-year reviews.
• Identify, support, and train country teams on need areas or gaps identified.
• Work with Country Directors and Impact Assessment Officers to understand and work towards strategic milestones.
• Collaborate with HR to develop a training plan for staff on technological advancement.
Reporting
• Provide weekly updates to the Regional Vice President on agreed strategic targets.
• Provide a one-page monthly summary to the Regional Vice President on agreed strategic targets.
• Meet with Country Directors and Program Leads monthly to provide updates and support for their Edtech program.
• Collaborate with Program Leads, Impact Assessment Officers and the Development team to collect and write impact stories of the Edtech program being implemented in operational countries across the region.
• Submit quarterly and annual reports to the Regional Vice President and Country Directors including an executive summary, supported by key metrics for the Edtech program initiatives and impact.
Experience Required
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Education, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
• 5-7 years of work experience in education, international development, community development, and/or technology.
• Experience in the education sector as an Edtech implementor or consultant is preferred.
• Experience in Christian ministry is highly desirable.
• Experience in designing programs and budgets.
• Ability to coach/mentor.
