About this role

Salary: £36,000 - 59,000 per year

Requirements: Experience with Next.js, React, TypeScript, search indexes, Python, and FastAPI/Flask.Familiarity with REST APIs, Elasticsearch, Git, automated testing, and modern deployment workflows.Experience with cloud platforms, Docker, GitHub Actions-based CI/CD pipelines, or authentication and authorisation patterns is desirable.A bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role.Proven experience as a Frontend Developer or similar role.Strong knowledge of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Next.js.Strong knowledge of back-end technologies including Python, Node.js, and Next.js.Familiarity with databases and search indexes, including Elasticsearch and SQL-like databases.Understanding of cloud platforms and deployment strategies.Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Experience with PyGeoAPI is desirable.Experience with Jira and Confluence is desirable.Experience with UX/UI design principles, internally developed APIs and platforms, and Agile methodologies is desirable. Responsibilities: We will design, build, and maintain modern web applications using Next.js and React on the front end and Python on the back end.We will develop responsive, accessible, and high-quality user interfaces using Next.js, React, and TypeScript.We will build secure, scalable APIs and backend services using Python and FastAPI/Flask.We will develop APIs and user experiences backed by internal APIs and search indexes such as Elasticsearch.We will collaborate with design and product teams to create intuitive user experiences.We will participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software.We will maintain and update existing applications, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements.We will write technical documentation and assist in defining project requirements.We will implement CI/CD pipelines and automated testing to streamline deployment processes.We will troubleshoot, debug, and optimise applications for performance, security, and usability.We will stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in full-stack development.We will work across the full software development lifecycle from conception to deployment and collaborate with cross-functional teams. We are recruiting a Digital Developer for a 6-month contract, with the potential to extend, based in Exeter. This is an IR35 in-scope role within our Digital and Technology: Systems Development category, and we are looking to appoint two people. The position starts on a Saturday, with 7.4 hours per day and 37 hours per week. You will be joining us to support a Government agency in a mixed cloud environment across Azure and AWS, helping us deliver high-quality digital solutions across the full stack.
