More than a job: a mission At Alstom, you'll contribute to the development of mission-critical Train Control and Management Systems (TCMS) that ensure the safe and reliable operation of rail networks used by millions of passengers worldwide. This role is ideal for senior professionals with strong expertise in embedded software, Linux/RTOS environments, networking, troubleshooting, and software architecture who enjoy working on complex systems throughout their entire lifecycle. Your role, Your impact Drive software design, root cause analysis, system improvements, and continuous innovation while mentoring teammates and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Work on both operational train software and advanced diagnostic solutions that support fleet performance, reliability, and predictive maintenance. What you'll do Troubleshoot, analyze, and assess onboard software applications and the development toolchain, from reported field issues down to root cause identification. Reproduce and diagnose customer-reported defects using logs, train health monitoring data, test benches, and simulation environments. Contribute to systems engineering activities, software architecture, and technical design from requirements analysis through implementation and validation. Support the complete software development ecosystem including coding, configuration management, continuous integration, automated testing, and release management. Perform and participate in technical reviews and code reviews, promoting engineering best practices and software quality standards. What you bring Required Experience & Technical Skills 10+ years of software development experience in embedded, real-time, industrial, transportation, or other complex system environments. Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience. Strong programming skills in C, C++, C# and/or Python . Experience working with Windows, Linux, VxWorks , or other Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS). Solid understanding of networking and communication protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, MQTT . Hands-on experience with Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and software automation tools . Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills using tools such as Wireshark, log analysis platforms, simulators, and test benches . Experience maintaining and evolving complex or legacy software products. Fluency in French and English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
