About you

Do you want to develop and deliver research to improve the lives of people living with cancer? We are expanding our Applied Health Research (AHR) team to deliver the bold ambition of our new Research Strategy and help people live longer and better lives with myeloma.

Myeloma UK is looking for a skilled and highly motivated Lead Researcher: Insight and Lived Experience to join our AHR team. This role will develop our flagship Unmet and Emerging Needs Research Programme, gathering insight from the myeloma community to drive the change needed to deliver better diagnosis, treatment and care.

The role holder will:

Be a skilled researcher with experience of survey design, health research methodologies and understanding of PPI/E Have experience in managing and developing a team Be motivated to realise income potential from our research, in partnership with the Head of Commercial Development Help build our digital and AI capabilities in our AHR work

The successful candidate will have exceptional project management and organisational skills. You will be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences and have effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of cancer research priorities and experience working in the charity sector would be beneficial but not essential.

About the role

Our new strategy puts people affected by myeloma in the driving seat: we only fund projects that we know are important to people affected by myeloma. Our AHR team:

Develops understanding of patient and carer experiences Translates insight into innovation Powers the long-term vision of the whole organisation

The role will provide day to day leadership for key AHR programmes including our core Unmet and Emerging Needs Research Programme and our gold standard delivery of Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPI/E).

You will liaise closely with internal teams in Myeloma UK, external research collaborators and University partners as part of your role.
