A position is available in the groups of Professor Peter Scott and Dr David Fox to synthesise new compounds and polymers, characterise their properties and effects, and to contribute to their commercial application. The position is currently funded until 30th April 2028 in collaboration with an industrial partner.

You will work with a team of researchers at various levels, and in close collaboration with the industrial partner. We are seeking a self-directed, collaborative researcher who can work confidently from clear strategic intent, exercise sound judgement under uncertainty, and take initiative while maintaining close alignment with the wider team.

About You

We are seeking a self-directed, collaborative researcher who can work confidently from clear strategic intent, exercise sound judgement under uncertainty, and take initiative while maintaining close alignment with the wider team.

You will have completed PhD or equivalent in Chemistry and have experience in polymer chemistry, characterisation and testing methodologies. You will be able to demonstrate strong transferrable skills.

PhD Status

If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at Research Assistant level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (£34,610 per annum).

Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow, at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (£35,608 per annum).
