About this role

About the Role This role will be part of a team providing support for academics in named School(s) or Institute(s) for pre-award financial and contractual requirements (varying based on any specific aspects required). This role is key in ensuring fast and efficient research support administration, with a focus on quality and responsiveness, such as

producing a realistic price for the proposal drafting and reviewing contracts interacting with funders, Lead Researchers and Principal Investigators ensuring the entered costs adhere to the funder’s guidelines

Additionally, this role will be responsible for meeting service level agreements for standard grants or agreeing response timeframes for non-standard grants or contracts.

About You You will have experience of working in a research funding or costing role, within either HEI or NHS Trust organisation, with knowledge of research funding available for researchers in either. This experience would include budget construction, using a HEI/NHS research funding costing tool, and a working knowledge of TRAC and FEC financial methodologies.

As part of your experience of drafting, reviewing and completing research contracts, you would have used your proficiency in Word, Excel and the relevant research grant management software, and your ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.

Your effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills enable you to build relationships with staff at all levels and you exercise tact, diplomacy or be assertive where needed, and your strong organisation and planning skills allows you to prioritise your own workload.

About the Department The Joint Research Management Office (JRMO) supports researchers across Queen Mary, University of London and Bart’s Health NHS Trust.
