Digital Content and Media Technical Instructor

Join our Digital and Technology Team and play a key role in supporting teaching, performances, and events across the University. You'll provide specialist technical expertise, maintain industry-standard facilities, and help create exceptional learning experiences for students.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical support for Drama, Dance, Acting, and other creative disciplines.

Support conferences, performances, and internal and external events. Support teaching, rehearsals, assessments, and public performances. Deliver technical workshops and one-to-one student support. Advise academic staff on technical solutions. Maintain lighting, sound, video, and stage equipment. Work with Estates, Events, and Digital & Technology teams to deliver high-quality services. Carry out equipment maintenance, PAT testing, and maintain technical records. Maintain venue specifications and support digital signage across campus. Support occasional evening and weekend events.

What You'll Do

No two days are the same. You could be delivering technical workshops, supporting student performances, advising academics, supporting the tech for a conference and event, preparing venues for commercial hire, or maintaining specialist performance facilities

Working with the Team Leader and Technical Instructors, you'll collaborate with colleagues across the University to deliver outstanding technical support for teaching, learning, performances, and events.

About You

Essential

A qualification in Technical Theatre, Live Events, Production Technology, Performing Arts Technology, or equivalent experience.

Experience operating lighting, sound, video, and stage technologies. Experience supporting live performances, teaching, or events. Experience maintaining technical equipment and working safely. Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills. A proactive, customer-focused approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to support evening and weekend activities.

Desirable

Experience delivering technical workshops or practical training.
