Job Description: 95% - Provide tours of campus to prospective students and share with them what life as a Jayhawk looks like.

Required Qualifications: • Excellent communication skills, as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications: • Involvement in one or more on-campus student organizations, as evidenced by application materials. • Demonstrated ability to work with large groups, experience working with a variety of students (legacy, first-generation, students of different backgrounds, etc.), as evidenced by application materials. • Demonstrated ability to be well organized and possess good time management skills, as evidenced by application materials.

Position Overview: The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for domestic and international undergraduate admissions for both freshman and transfer students. The team manages KU’s overall recruitment and yield strategy, including travel, on- and off-campus events, prospect data entry, and application processing.

Who We Are: The Student Ambassadors represent student life at KU. They study a variety of academic majors and represent the reach of the University of Kansas across the country and the world. They're involved in campus clubs and organizations — from service groups and sorority/fraternity life to academic organizations and student government. Many have participated in undergraduate research, studied abroad, and held internships while at KU. Please note, this is an on-campus, in-person position with specific hours. What We Do: KU Student Ambassadors represent KU by giving one-hour walking tours of campus, participating in panels, answering questions, and chatting with future Jayhawks. Other duties include preparing materials to assist Admissions staff in facilitating daily visits to prospective students and families. Other duties as assigned at the direction of the Assistant Director of Campus Visits, Graduate Assistants, and Office of Admissions Staff.

Ideal candidates will be dependable, have a flexible schedule, have an outgoing personality and the enthusiasm to positively represent the University of Kansas to on-campus visitors, and have knowledge of University of Kansas programs and services.

Position Requirements: During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions: (1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
