Registered Nurse (RN) - Staff
Position Description: Employees in this classification are responsible for providing professional nursing care in an assigned specialty or sub-specialty clinic. They perform a variety of general and specialized nursing duties as part of a total health care team to provide the patient with complete evaluations. Employees in this position generally assist the head nurse in the supervision of other clinic personnel and may substitute for this person in the event of his/her absence. May supervise and instruct subordinate nursing personnel. Receives supervision from head nurse or physician, functions independently within guidelines. May supervise ancillary nursing personnel in the performance of certain tasks, and assists in training personnel. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions and requires a high degree of contact with patients, families, and other clinic personnel and outside professionals.

Major/Essential Functions: • The RN, with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. • The RN is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families with complex healthcare needs. • Provide clinical coverage within the assigned area of work. • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. • Collaborate with healthcare providers and support staff to coordinate patient care activities. • Monitor patient flow and throughput, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and minimize wait times. • Participate in clinical team care reviews to improve patient care processes and outcomes. • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers through prompt response and courteous communication. • Address patient concerns and complaints promptly, striving to resolve issues and improve the overall patient experience. • Foster a positive and motivated work environment, promoting team collaboration, professionalism and high morale. • Supervise and/or delegate nursing care to other members of the health care team using evidence-based practice in accordance with departmental staffing model. • Communicates changes, issues, and other important information that impacts patient, staff and the flow of the clinic. • Work directly with Human Resources in recruitment and training of new employees; performance management and development of employees; and issuing formal disciplinary action up to and including termination. • Participate in community outreach activities (such as health fairs, community collaborations or outreach clinics) as assigned. • May be required to provide cross-coverage for various Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso clinics across locations (Alberta, Transmountain, NE Clinic, Kenworthy, etc.) to ensure operational and staffing needs are met. • Remain current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position. • Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.). • Personally, and consistently, demonstrate, display and act in accordance with Texas Tech Health El Paso’s Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Preferred Qualifications: • Experience providing direct nursing care in related clinical setting/unit within past 6 months. • Previous experience in a nursing leadership/supervisory position. • Ability to effectively communicate in English & Spanish.
Pay Statement: Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.

Required Qualifications: • Completion of a Board of Nursing accredited program of professional nursing or scheduled to complete a program of professional nursing within 120 days of applying for a position. • Current Registered Nursing license in the state of Texas or the attainment of a temporary permit from the Board of Nursing to practice professional nursing pending full licensure in the state of Texas. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX- RN) on the first attempt. • No experience required.
