About the Position: The Maintenance A is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling mechanical equipment used in flour milling operations. This role ensures maximum equipment reliability, efficiency, safety, and product quality while minimizing downtime.
Duties and Responsibilities Preventive and Predictive Maintenance • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on milling equipment. • Inspect machinery and identify potential mechanical failures before breakdowns occur. • Maintain maintenance records and work orders. Equipment Repair and Troubleshooting • Diagnose mechanical issues in flour milling equipment. • Repair and replace bearings, belts, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, conveyors, elevators, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic systems. • Troubleshoot vibration, alignment, lubrication, and mechanical performance issues. Installation and Upgrades • Install new machinery and equipment. • Perform precision alignment of motors, pumps, gearboxes, and rotating equipment. • Assist in machinery modifications and plant improvement projects. Welding and Fabrication • Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication work as required. • Fabricate guards, platforms, supports, and replacement parts. • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Safety and Compliance • Follow all safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and hot work permit requirements. • Maintain compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, SQF/BRC) • Ensure maintenance activities do not compromise food safety. Continuous Improvement • Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures. • Recommend improvements that increase reliability and reduce downtime. • Support TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Education and Experience • Millwright Journeyman Certification (Red Seal preferred). • Technical diploma or equivalent experience in Industrial Maintenance. • 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred. • Experience in flour milling, grain processing, food manufacturing, or similar industries is an asset.
