Job Description: The Project Engineer I role for Manufacturing & Test Operations will lead a multi-discipline team to meet cost, schedule, and technical requirements for assigned projects. This may also include leading teams in the design, development, and execution of innovative research projects.

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop manufacturing execution specifications, design for manufacturability, analysis documentation and presentation, cost, schedule, and high value resource planning. • Generate accurate and robust time-phase/staffing estimates for area of responsibility. • Successfully track performance against program-critical cost and schedule budgets as well as verify the effort is meeting complex technical specifications. • Provide and communicate proficient understanding of both the complex technical and programmatic aspects of a project to the project team as well as the customer. • Promote development of a team by providing leadership in key aspects of the project and mentoring more junior team members. When delegating, establish clear expectations by providing well-defined tasks with clear entrance/exit criteria, due dates, and associated budgets. • Generate accurate cost estimates. • Identify, track, and address program-critical risks and opportunities. • Develop detailed development schedules and successfully manage team activities to achieve delivery milestones. • Manage company-wide technical and programmatic priorities in relation to customer technical and programmatic priorities. • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, oral presentations skills, and ability to lead cross-functional group discussions. • Excellent communication skills. • May work with classified documents which requires thorough knowledge of National Space and Military Space customer-mandated procedures for the proper usage and safeguarding of classified information. • Provide timely feedback, coaching, and mentorship to team members about their performance. Seek opportunities to recognize outstanding performance via the Employee Recognition Process. Address poor performance appropriately. • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. • Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions: • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment. • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required. • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Skills and Education: • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 6 or more years related experience. • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education. • A current, active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required. • Understands Program Life Cycle. • Ability to generate time-phased staffing and material estimates for their own area of responsibility. • Generate and track accurate scheduling using project tools. • Develops processes and tools to support program needs. • Ability to work many tasks simultaneously, such as lead which requires technical, cost, schedule, risk and personnel tasks. • Ability to delegate work to others and able to identify the proper amount and type of work to delegate to help grow employees. • Effective in working with people at all levels including interdisciplinary, intra disciplinary and including middle to upper management and the customer. #LI-JL2
