Facilities Specialist I
Job Description: The Facilities Specialist I plays an integral part in maintaining the airport’s buildings, fleet, grounds, and airfield to ensure safe and efficient operations. Under the direction of the Manager, Facilities & Operations, the Facilities Specialist I performs preventive and corrective maintenance, coordinates repairs with vendors and regulatory agencies, supports airfield lighting and electrical systems, assists with snow removal, wildlife control, and emergency response, and operates a variety of maintenance equipment in all weather conditions. This position requires a self-motivated individual capable of performing a variety of tasks in a dynamic airport environment.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities: • Must be able to complete and pass pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical exam. Must be able to pass audiogram and spirometry test. • Able to drive and operate a motor vehicle/machinery at all times. • Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record. • Able to stand for long periods of time. • Able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 75 pounds. • Able to work a flexible/on-call schedule including overtime hours as needed, such as in the event of an aircraft emergency, snow event or other weather event. • Able to perform tasks in extreme environmental conditions, including all weather conditions, loud noises, fumes, gases, etc. • Must be able to bend and push/pull frequently, squat, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, reach above shoulder level, and lift from high/low positions occasionally. • Must be able to wear a N95 Particulate Respirator while working with certain chemicals/substances as defined under the Respiratory Protection Program. • Able to communicate effectively (reading, writing, speaking) in English. • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
Required Skills: • Self-motivated. • Able to work well independently with minimal guidance as well as part of a team. • Adapts easily to shifting priorities or tasks as needed. • General knowledge of construction preferred. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Problem-solving skills. • Strong hand-eye coordination required. • Knowledge and ability of operating power tools preferred.
Preferred Experience: • 1-year experience in landscaping preferred, including mowing and weed-whacking. • Experience operating large equipment such as a backhoe preferred. • Experience with snow removal preferred.
